Data collection and data processing

As part of the use of the TruckOn online platform, Continental processes your data pursuant to the applicable legal regulations.

1. General

Personal data that you enter are collected, processed and used by Continental for the purpose of registration on the TruckOn online platform; these data are also needed in order to offer the services on the platform. Should this be required for performance of the contract, they may be disclosed to companies affiliated with Continental as defined in Sections 15 et seqq. Aktiengesetz (AktG – German Stock Corporation Act) pursuant to Continental’s Binding Corporate Rules.

To the extent permitted/mandated by law, the data may be evaluated for reporting purposes (e.g. statistics).

Your data is collected, processed and used based solely on the applicable data protection regulations (e.g. regarding your consent).

In the course of providing the platform services, we transmit your data to our service providers

Speed4Trade, Serviceplan Köln GmbH & Co. KG and Episerver GmbH record and process your personal data on our behalf insofar as this is necessary to execute the contract (on the basis of a Data Processing Agreement or, if Speed4Trade GmbH, Serviceplan Köln GmbH & Co. KG and Episerver GmbH is based outside the EU, on the basis of the EU standard contractual clauses). 

Pursuant to legal requirements, we will treat all your data as strictly confidential.

2. Collection and processing of data

Continental saves personal data on the users of its online platform only to the extent that consent has been granted for this. Only data relating to the date and time of the visit, the pages visited, page features used and the website from which the user gained access to the TruckOn platform are saved. The IP address is transferred anonymously and is only used for geographic classification at the city level. Continental uses these data to measure website activities, to create statistics and to improve the services and information provided through the website.

The user's personal data are only used to process an application subject to consent or in observance of the applicable data protection regulations. Based on legal requirements, Continental has enacted a global, standard and internal data protection policy (Binding Corporate Rules) that governs the protection of personal data.

Continental saves data entered in TruckOn, such as first name, surname, VAT, company and e-mail address for the purpose of personal communication with you. These data are saved and/or used solely for processing your application to TruckOn. Your data are deleted after notice of termination for the use of TruckOn has been given, provided that no legal duties to keep and retain records conflict with this deletion.

If you have consented to receiving information (new features in TruckOn, updates and products related to TruckOn) by e-mail, Continental also saves and uses your personal data in order to provide you with the aforementioned promotional information.

3. Rights of the data subject

3.1 Please note that as a data subject under the EU Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), you have the following rights as relate to the processing of your personal data:

  • Rights to information under Article 13 and Article 14 EU GDPR
  • Right of access under Article 15 EU GDPR
  • Right to rectification under Article 16 EU GDPR
  • Right to erasure under Article 17 EU GDPR
  • Right to restriction of processing under Article 18 EU GDPR
  • Data portability under Article 20 EU GDPR

3.2 Pursuant to Article 7 (3) EU GDPR, you are free to withdraw your consent to the collection, processing/saving and use of your persona data at any time. This withdrawal must be sent in writing to Continental Automotive GmbH, Heinrich-Hertz-Straße 45, 78052 Villingen-Schwenningen, or by e-mail to info@truckon.com.

3.3 You can always contact our data protection officers in writing (including by e-mail) with questions or complaints. E-mail: dataprotection@conti.de. You can also contact the appropriate data protection authorities, if available. Pursuant to Article 21 (1) EU GDPR, you are free to object at any time to the processing of your personal data on the basis of Article 6 (1) (f) EU GDPR.

4. Protection of the saved data

Our company and our service providers Speed4Trade GmbH, Serviceplan Köln GmbH & Co. KG and Episerver GmbH implement technical and organisational security measures to protect any of your personal data that have been provided to us from manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorised persons. These security measures are continuously improved and updated using the best technology available. Data disclosed in an unencrypted format can potentially be viewed by third parties. It is thus noted that no secure transmission is ensured for data transmitted via the internet (e.g. for e-mail communication). Sensitive data should thus either not be transmitted at all or only be transmitted via a secure connection (SLL). If you open pages and files and are thereby prompted to enter data about yourself, we would like to point out that this transmission of data via the internet may occur in an unsecured format and unauthorised parties my thereby gain knowledge of the data or tamper with the data.

5. Cookies (small text files)

During a visit to our TruckOn online platform, information may be stored on your computer in the form of “cookies”. Such cookies are only used to ensure the operation of the web pages. Other cookies (e.g. on website use) are only set on the basis of your consent (regarding this, see Cookie Policy). Moreover, you may also refuse to accept cookies through your browser settings. Please be aware, however, that if you do so you may not be able to make full use of all the features of this platform.

6. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses "cookies", text files that are stored on your computer and which enable your use of the website to be analysed. The information generated by the cookies about your use of the website is generally transferred to a Google server in the USA, where it is also saved.

In the event that IP anonymisation is activated on this website, Google will shorten your IP address within member states of the European Union or within other states that are party to the European Economic Area Agreement. Only in exceptional cases will the complete IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. IP anonymisation is active on this website. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other related services for the website operator in connection with use of the website and the Internet.

The IP address transmitted under Google Analytics from your browser will not be combined with other Google data. Cookies are set on our site only on the basis of your consent. 7. Sharing in social networks

If you use the “Share” function on our website, no personal data is transferred to the respective social media service. If you use your own profile to share our website content, we do not have any bearing on the content and scope of the data collected by these networks. The terms of use and privacy policies of the respective social network apply in this respect.

8. iFraming

We embed videos via iFraming on our website. External content from third-party websites can be embedded and displayed in defined areas on our website via iFraming

Support

If you need assistance setting up your workshop account or are unable to make progress in the system, you have the option of requesting this support by sending an official letter to the Support e-mail account.

In order to make use of this support, you need to have a client exe fast viewer, which will be provided to you by Continental as needed. If obtaining support, you must open the client exe file received and installed on your computer and will be prompted to enter a session number. This number will be sent to you by a support employee. After this, another connection warning will appear, which you must accept.

By doing so, you are giving the support employees your consent to connect to your computer and to provide you with support. 
This connection is used solely to assist with your questions and no other data are recorded and saved in the process.
